Falmouth Coastguard Help Grounded Yacht in Indonesia
Falmouth Coastguard raised the alarm with international rescue services after being alerted to a grounded CLIPPER Round the World racing yacht in the Java Sea, 200 miles North East of Jakarta, with 16 people on board including five Britons.

Crewman with Head Injuries Airlifted
At 8:15am today, Stornoway Coastguard received a call from the Irish registered fishing vessel Niamh Edghan, 20 miles West of South Uist, who had a 45 year old crewman on board who had sustained a serious head injury. 

Two People REFUSE Rescue on River Tees!
The rescue of two people cut off by the tide at Hartlepool was made more difficult for the emergency services this afternoon when the pair refused to be rescued unless they were taken ashore along with the driftwood they were collecting.

Angling Vessel Rescued At Buxey Sand
An angling boat was rescued after going aground on the Buxey Sand in Essex when the crew became disorientated, without navigation equipment or charts, with a non functioning VHF radio set and no flares in adverse weather conditions.

At half past three this afternoon Humber Coastguard received several calls into the Operations Room reporting that two young males had gone out in an inflatable dinghy from Scarborough Harbour, and that one of them was now in the water.

Elderly Couple Lost and Adrift in Grim Weather Conditions
At 02.26 this morning Yarmouth Coastguard received a 999 call on mobile phone from a 30 ft motor cruiser the LADY-3.

Female Pilot Rescued After Aircraft Ditches Off Morecambe
At quarter past 12 this afternoon Liverpool Coastguard were contacted by Air Traffic Control to inform them that a light aircraft had disappeared from their radars and was suspecting of ditching off Morecambe Bay.

Angler Rescued From Sea At Ilfracombe
At twenty minutes to one, today Swansea Coastguard received a 999 call from a lady reporting that she had just witnessed her husband who was angling off rocks at Broadstrand near Ilfracombe being swept into the sea. Due to poor telephone signal the call dropped out, but another man was able to make a second telephone call to the Coastguard giving further information.

Fishermen Call for Help in Worsening Weather
At twenty minutes past nine this evening, Belfast Coastguard received a telephone call from Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) informing them that they had received a telephone call from two fishermen in distress.

At ten minutes past seven this morning, Swansea Coastguard received a call from a man out walking on the coast with his dog. The man informed the Coastguard that he could see a yacht drifting out to sea, with torn sails flapping in the wind.

Yacht and Crew Rescued in Rough Seas
At one o,clock this morning, Shetland Coastguard received a mayday call on VHF radio from the crew of a forty foot Norwegian registered yacht called Innana.

Five Saved From Fishing Vessel Fire on Belfast Lough
Five people were rescued from the waters just outside Belfast harbour this afternoon after a fishing vessel caught fire.

Two Rescued After Vessel Dashed Against Rocks
At just after 11.00 am this morning Holyhead Coastguard were alerted by a mobile phone call from the skipper of a small 27 foot red hulled commercial motor vessel called Jean M that was being dashed against the rocks at Rhoscolyn Bay after the vessel suffered engine failure. The skipper and his colleague were at the time standing on rocks on the small island of Ynys Traws.

Three Men Recovered From Water After Dinghy Turns Over
The vessel involved in last nights incident in the Solent has now been recovered to the shoreline by the Isle of Wights Freshwater Inshore Rescue boat.

Canoeist in the Water Makes Mayday Call
At eighteen minutes past twelve this afternoon, Solent Coastguard received a mayday call on VHF Channel 16, the International Distress and calling frequency from a canoeist reporting that he had been separated from his canoe and that he was in the water off St Catherines point

Yacht Calls for Help in Storm Force Winds
At 08.50 this morning the 65 foot yacht Elinca transmitted an emergency broadcast requesting assistance from Stornoway Coastguard when they suffered a gearbox failure in storm force winds. The vessel, who had 13 crew on board, had no choice but to anchor on a lee shore on the remote Loch Tealasbhaigh to the west side of the Isle of Lewis in winds of up to 50 knots.

Four Youths Rescued From Vessel
Liverpool Coastguard have been co-ordinating this afternoon the rescue of four people from a small vessel Valerie which contacted the prime marine emergency service at 4.20 this afternoon.

Catamaran Sinks At Lynmouth - Seven Are Taken Off
Swansea Coastguard picked up a faint message at just before 2.00 pm this afternoon from the yacht Ocean Blue, a 10 metre, twin engined, catamaran, which at the time was just outside Lynmouth harbour in North Devon.

Three Women in a Boat Rescued
At twenty minutes past two this afternoon, Belfast Coastguard received a report that a small dinghy with three women onboard had been blown a mile out to sea by a strong offshore wind from Cloughey on the Ards Peninsula.

A loose overturned 7ft Rib sparked a search for missing persons tonight in Southampton Water involving the Coastguard helicopter, a Coastguard Rescue Team and two RNLI lifeboats.

At 9.37am Humber Coastguard was contacted on VHF Channel 16 by the skipper of the 30 metre fishing vessel Honeybourne III reporting that the vessel had run hard aground just north of Filey.

Sailor in Lifejacket Rescued From Sea
A sailor was rescued from the sea at Instow after falling between his tender and his moored boat and spending 20 minutes in the water. Fortunately he was wearing a lifejacket which kept him afloat until a lifeboat and a helicopter reached him.

Yacht Disabled in North Sea Race
At approximately 7:50 this morning Yarmouth Coastguard received a MAYDAY call from a 22f ft sailing vessel Tomahawk with 2 people on board approx 30 miles off the coast off Cromer on the East Coast. The sailing yacht had been taking part in the North Sea Race when it experienced difficulties in the rough weather, loosing its rudder and power.

Twelve Rescued as Dive Boat Sinks
Twelve divers were rescued today, after their boat Aquanaut sank just west off Salcombe. The divers let off a flare, which alerted the crew of a passing yacht Dutch Angel, the crew then radioed the Coastguard for help; they then proceeded to the scene to secure the life raft and help the casualties out of the water.

Two people were rescued from a yacht off Cleethorpes just before 8am this morning after a sharp eyed member of the public noticed that their yacht had capsized and they were in the water.

Yacht Collisions, Grounded Vessels and Men Overboard
With 1,779 boats competing in yesterdays Round The Island race, Solent Coastguard were well prepared for a challenging day. This year, the annual Round The Island race generated a flurry of incidents, with the Coastguard Helicopter, Coastguard Rescue Teams and RNLI lifeboats being called to assist grounded vessels and men overboard, as well as the FastCat that operates between Portsmouth and Ryde, which became grounded on its 5.45 crossing.

At around quarter to two this afternoon, Solent Coastguard received a call from a skipper of a small commercial fishing boat who had pulled a man from the water off Bognor.

Three men have been rescued from a sinking tug at Peterhead after their vessel capsized just outside the entrance to Peterhead Harbour early this morning.

A 62 year old man was rescued on Friday evening as his yacht broke up on rocks in Lyme Bay.

At half past ten this morning, Humber Coastguard received a call from the Whitby Harbourmaster reporting that there was a yacht outside of the harbour having difficulties in getting in.

Two Men Rescued from Toy Inflatable
At twenty five minutes past ten yesterday evening, Swansea Coastguard received a 999 call from a man in a toy inflatable dinghy. The man and his companion stated that they were unable to make shore near Ogmore by Sea, South Wales. Both had been in the water and had managed to climb back into the 11 foot, toy inflatable dinghy prior to phoning. The two men were cold and distraught. They are aged 40 and 29 and were wearing board shorts and tee shirts.

Two Boys Rescued after Clinging to Buoy
At half past seven this evening, Humber Coastguard received a 999 call reporting two boys clinging to a navigation buoy marking the channel into Hartlepool docks.

Two foreign nationals were rescued from their 25ft yacht Ouhm approximately 35 miles north east of Dunbar in the North Sea.

Lucky Escape as Fishing Vessel Sinks off Sound of Harris
Stornoway Coastguard Rescue Helicopter went to assist a sinking fishing vessel this afternoon and while deploying a pump from the helicopter both the fisherman and the winchman both went in the water as the vessel sank under them.

Fishermen From Sinking Vessel Safety Back Onshore
Three Kilkeel fishermen, who requested Coastguard assistance via VHF radio when their vessel appeared to be sinking earlier today, have just arrived back into Kilkeel Harbour. The three arrived onboard their ten metre fishing vessel Crystal Star, escorted by the Kilkeel RNLI lifeboat.

At midday today Falmouth Coastguard received a call on VHF from the crew of a yacht called Maelys reporting that they had been hit by a cargo vessel in fog 15 miles south east of Lizard Point.

Coastguard Helicopter Plucks Man From Sunken Vessel in Solent
Solent Coastguard Rescue Helicopter arrived on scene above a sinking fishing boat just in time to winch the occupant out of the water after the vessel sank. The skipper, a 29 year old man from the Isle of Wight, has been transferred by helicopter to Newport on the Isle of Wight.

Two fishermen have been picked up by a passing fishing vessel and airlifted to hospital by the Portland Coastguard Rescue Helicopter after their boat capsized this morning.

Wind Surfer Rescued in Treacherous Conditions
At just after 2.00 pm this afternoon, Belfast Coastguard were alerted by a member of the public that he could see from his viewpoint in the car park of the Royal Court Hotel at Portrush a windsurfer being blown off his board in the east and towards rocks. He was described as having a red and yellow sailboard and a dark wet suit.

At twenty minutes to four this afternoon, Humber Coastguard received a 999 call from a man reporting that himself, his partner and their 11 month old child and two dogs were cut off by the tide at Seaham.

Three Rescued From Yacht Off Essex Coast
At 5.11pm, Thames Coastguard received a radio call from the 25ft yacht Nelly requesting assistance after they had run aground and become unsure of their position between the entrances to the Rivers Blackwater and Crouch off the Essex coast. The yachts GPS navigation equipment had failed and the crew could only make a very rough estimate of their position.
