Coastguard Rescue teams have been assisting in the response to the flooding incidents in Cumbria and South West Scotland.

Coastguard Rescue Teams have been deployed from Maryport, Burgh by Sands, Walney Island, Whitehaven and Millom to assist in Cumbria.

Volunteer Teams were also deployed from Port Ling, Kirkcudbright and Annan to assist with flooding in Dumfries and Galloway.

Her Majestys Coastguard are actively involved alongside their colleagues in the RNLI assisting in the evacuation of people from their houses in heavily flooded areas, utilising the Coastguard 4 X 4 vehicles and inshore lifeboats.

Volunteers from the two organisations are being sent as requested by the Police Gold Command to areas where their expertise can be put to best use in the evacuation of people from their homes and then taking those evacuated to a place of safety.
