At 8.25 pm this evening the fishing vessel Carisanne II radioed Shetland Coastguard reporting they were taking water and had no engine power on board, approximately 30 nautical miles east of Unst.
There were 6 crew on board Carisanne II, and their pair-trawl vessel, the fishing vessel Rosemount, was stood by them to establish a tow. Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 102 from Sumburgh was scrambled by Shetland Coastguard and brought rescue pumps to assist the Carisanne II.
Currently the Carisanne II has the rescue pump on board to combat the ingress of water and is under tow by Rosemount for Lerwick Harbour. Coastguard Rescue 102 has returned to Sumburgh.
Weather on scene is reported as Wind: North force 4 to 5 Sea state: Moderate. (Forecast - North 4 or 5, Moderate or Rough Sea, Squally snow showers).
