Sea Fire FM200 is the natural, safe replacement for Halon.
Suitable for both petrol and diesel engines, the Sea Fire FM200 FG and FD-Series of Automatic Engine Fire Extinguishers provides protection for engine spaces from 1.4m3 up to 42.5m3.
Sea Fire FM200 is extremely safe to people and equipment. FM200 works by breaking the Fire Triangle by removing heat from the fire and by inhibiting combustion. Since FM200 is a clean gaseous vapour, there is no messy cleanup of powder, foam or residue. And as such, electrical and mechanical systems not directly damaged by the fire can be used straight away. (FM200 is in fact used as a propellant in Asthma Inhalers).
Sea Fire automatically activates following the detection of abnormal heat energy produced by a fire and deploys optimum extinguishing performance in a matter of seconds.
The Sea Fire FM200 FG-'M' and FD-'M' range of extinguishers also offer 'Manual Cable Activation' as an optional extra for circumstances where a crew member suspects the beginnings of a fire such as a slow shouldering electrical fault that is often signified by smoke or an acrid singeing smell.
The Sea Fire FM200 units are supplied as a complete and compact pre-engineered system that requires minimum fitting and are covered by a manufacturers Three Year Warranty.
All Sea Fire FM200 systems include a mounting bracket and owners installation manual and can be installed horizontally or vertically. (up to model size: FD1000M 28m3)

How to select the right extinguisher:
First of all you need to measure the overall volume of your engine bay by multiplying the Length x Width x Height (in meters)
Next measure the volume of any large battery boxes, fuel tanks or water tanks that are present in your engine bay too.
Finally deduct the volume of any battery boxes and tanks from the overall volume of your engine bay and this will then give you the NET volume. (or free empty space)
You then need to select the size of fire extinguisher that covers this NET volume.
